Marie Philbin-Portfolio, COTA / L

Marie Philbin-Portfolio joined Interplay as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in October 2019. She graduated from South University with a degree of Associates of Science in Occupational Therapy Assistant in 2016, and brings with her over 2 years of experience in private pediatric therapy practice. Marie previously worked at Thera-Peds in Deerfield Beach, FL, where she gained experience treating children with Sensory Processing Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Learning Disabilities, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delay, Hypotonia and Hypertonicity.

Marie was initially inspired to pursue an education that helps treat children on the Spectrum as she has two cousins with Autism. Witnessing first-hand the role that therapy played in better enrich her cousins’ lives made a large impact on her journey for higher education in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). During her level two clinical at South University, she worked at the Palm Beach School for Autism. There she was able to plan and treat students in vocational and classroom settings, growing her passion and focus for pediatric therapy. Over the course of completing her clinicals, obtaining her degree, and working in private practice, Marie also managed to get married and have two beautiful daughters. Marie is devoted to helping children and plans to continue gaining knowledge in Ayres Sensory Integration and Neurodevelopmental approaches.

Testimonials

Ericka C.
We have been a part of the InterPlay family since our three children, who all have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder began receiving therapy over 3 years ago. They embraced our children right from the start and took on the challenge of meeting their varying occupational needs. Using patience, persistence and creativity, the staff helped each of our children develop (and continue to develop) the skills they desperately needed to be successful in school and in life. The staff has been wonderful not only to our children but to us, the parents as well. They have worked with us and provided flexibility with insurance issues, scheduling, and personal needs. They truly care about the progress of our children. We feel so fortunate to have found a center that provides both excellent therapy and genuine care in the service they provide to our family.
