Summer Haxby OTD/S

Summer graduated with her Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in 2019 after receiving her Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a minor in Education from the University of Florida in 2014. She has a certification in advanced training in Sensory Integration from the University of Southern California and loves working with children with neuro-developemntal delays and sensory processing difficulties. In the past, Summer has worked with children of varying ages and abilities as an educational and developmental specialist, mentor, and teaching assistant. She loves tapping into a child’s playfulness while providing the “just-right” challenge to help the child achieve his or her goals! Summer’s loving and playful nature makes her the great addition to the InterPlay team. Summer has worked closely with Dr. Saa to learn the sensory integration frame of reference and how to apply it into treatment. During her Doctoral residency she will be developing interesting new programs at InterPlay such as mommy and me developmental groups, Summer programs and more, so stay tuned.

We have been a part of the InterPlay family since our three children, who all have been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder began receiving therapy over 3 years ago. They embraced our children right from the start and took on the challenge of meeting their varying occupational needs. Using patience, persistence and creativity, the staff helped each of our children develop (and continue to develop) the skills they desperately needed to be successful in school and in life. The staff has been wonderful not only to our children but to us, the parents as well. They have worked with us and provided flexibility with insurance issues, scheduling, and personal needs. They truly care about the progress of our children. We feel so fortunate to have found a center that provides both excellent therapy and genuine care in the service they provide to our family.
